8:00-10:00 Scott Storrie, DC, LAc: Empowering Choices - Creating the Foundation for Optimal Well-Being

Scott Storrie In this presentation, Dr. Storrie will present a comprehensive approach to healing, blending chiropractic, Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion, visceral manipulation, cranial sacral therapy, specific manual and myofascial therapies, naturopathic endocrinology, homeopathics, Chinese herbal medicine, supplementation, detoxification, and lifestyle optimization. He will show how in an ever increasingly toxic environment, we will develop a strategy for promoting optimal healing and well-being in our patients in the treatment of a wide range of chronic conditions.

Dr. Scott Storrie has been practicing, studying, teaching, and integrating an expansive array of health disciplines for over 20 years. He believes that health begins with each individual and is achieved through education & transformation of daily lifestyle choices and matching the treatment to the presenting individual. His studies and practice include chiropractic, kinesiology, Japanese acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal prescription, visceral and cranial manipulation, myofascial and neurofascial release, naturopathic endocrinology, chelation, optimal hemodynamics, neurochemistry, daily movement and nutritional/dietary therapeutics, to enhance longevity, health, and quality of life in his patients. He believes this to be a process of self-discovery and-self care.

10:00-10:30 Break

10:30-11:30 Loren Cordain, PhD: The Potential Therapeutic Characteristics of Pre-Agricultural Diets in the Prevention and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis

It is well recognized that both genetic endowment and environment play important roles in multiple sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis. In regard to nutrition, tissue, animal and epidemiological evidence suggest that certain elements of the typical western diet may underlie MS etiology. Further, diets with nutritional characteristics similar to those found in human pre-agricultural diets may be therapeutic for MS patients.   Pre-agricultural diets generally did not contain cereal grains, dairy products, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods, but were dominated by lean meats, fish, seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables. In this presentation, Dr. Cordain will show how certain food elements within western diets may underlie or exacerbate disease symptoms via known proximate cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying MS.

Loren Cordain, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.  His research emphasis over the past 15 years has focused upon the evolutionary and anthropological basis for diet, health and well being in modern humans.  Dr. Cordain's scientific publications have examined the nutritional characteristics of worldwide hunter-gatherer diets as well as the nutrient composition of wild plant and animal foods consumed by foraging humans.  Over the past five years his work has focused upon the adverse health effects of the high dietary glycemic load that is ubiquitous in the typical western diet.  A number of his recent papers have proposed an endocrine link between dietary induced hyperinsulinemia and acne. Currently, Dr. Cordain’s research team is exploring the connection between dietary lectins and autoimmune disease, particularly multiple sclerosis. Dr. Cordain is the author of more than 100 peer review publications, many of which were funded by both private and governmental agencies.  He is the recent recipient of the Scholarly Excellence award at Colorado State University for his contributions into understanding optimal human nutrition.  He has lectured extensively on the "Paleolithic Nutrition" concept world wide, and has also written three popular books: The Paleo Diet, John Wiley & Sons, The Paleo Diet for Athletes, Rodale Press, and The Dietary Cure for Acne, in press. For more information, visit www.ThePaleodiet.com.

11:30-12:00 Robert Crayhon, MS, CN: Clinical Nutrition Update: The Latest Findings from My Clinical Practice and the Research Literature

Robert Crayhon’s nutrition career begin at age fourteen when he found himself reading the side of a Product 19 cereal box to avoid listening to his sister. To his surprise, he actually became interested in nutrition, and in 1993 was called "one of the top ten nutritionists in the country" by Self magazine. This led to an undeserved amount of attention from the publishing world, which he fought off by writing four books, including Robert Crayhon’s Nutrition Made Simple (Evans 1994) and The Carnitine Miracle. (Evans 1998)  Robert also co-wrote Dr. Atkins Vitanutrient Solution (Simon and Schuster 1998). Robert is associate editor of Total Health magazine. He has been published in the New York Times, and the peer-reviewed literature, and has produced over 70 hours of educational tapes for health care practitioners on the latest findings in nutritional biochemistry and their clinical applications. Robert was educated at Colgate University, Oberlin College, the Mannes School of Music, Vienna Conservatory, and is a nationally certified nutritionist through the National Institute of Nutrition Education, and did graduate work in nutrition at the Union Institute.

Robert has been a frequent guest on radio and television programs nationwide.  He has appeared many times on the Fox News Channel and CNN and other nationally televised programs. For three years he hosted a national radio show and for two years a national television program on health and wellness.  He has also lectured in over 60 cities around the world to health-care practitioners on the latest findings in clinical nutrition. He is also a member of the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids, www.issfal.org.uk.

Robert is president of Crayhon Research, an educational institution that since 2003 has trained thousands of health care practitioners in the latest findings in clinical nutrition. He maintains a nutrition practice in New York City, and is founder of NutritionTownHall.com, which offers free weekly support meetings to patients with chronic illness in the New York area and soon nationwide.

In his spare time, Robert likes to sleep, box, talk to the neighbors, and read fiction, especially DH Lawrence and Dostoyevsky, though he doesn’t understand much of it. He is shy, and is quite nervous when speaking in public, so do give him your understanding if he talks rapidly—it’s a nervous habit of his.

12:00-1:30 Lunch

1:00-2:30 Mark Schauss, MBA, DB - The Newest Findings in the Use of Laboratory Testing in the Management of Inflammatory Disorders

Dr. Mark Schauss will discuss the latest findings in how to use laboratory testing to develop uniquely targeted treatment protocols for your patients. His talk will center on the need to properly interpret the results for optimal clinical results, and on which tests are most relevant for specific conditions. The main focus of his lecture will be on the issue of testing for inflammation, recognizing its many toxic causes, and on proper methods of detoxification and other approaches needed to reverse it.

Mark Schauss, MBA, DB is an internationally acclaimed lab expert who has spent the past twenty years creating clinically applicable interpretive reports for laboratory tests. In his two decades of research, Dr. Schauss has gained comprehensive insight into the metabolic causes and solutions for a wide range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, autism, ADHD, neurodegenerative diseases as well as an array of other health problems. As lead developer of two U.S. patents on disease patterning and medical diagnostic systems, Dr. Schauss has led a team to develop an interpretive laboratory report known as LabAssist™. He has lectured internationally from South America to Europe to Asia as well in the U.S and Canada on laboratory testing and environmental toxicity.  He has also spent the last twenty years working closely with hundreds of practitioners worldwide on the clinical applications of his unique biochemical metabolic testing interpretations. Dr. Schauss's recently published book, Achieving Victory Over a Toxic World, has been acclaimed by patients and practitioners alike as the best and most up-to-date book on the topic of targeted healing and detoxification.

2:30-3:00 Break

3:00-4:00: Andreanna Rainville, RN:  Empowering Self-Care: Laser Field Repatterning and Other At-Home Healing Techniques for Patients and Practitioners

In this presentation, Andreanna will talk about therapeutic autonomy in patient care: how to safely manage symptoms of injury and illness, before and after the doctor’s visit. The simple tools and non-invasive techniques shared here are designed for the ease and use of the patient at home, and for doctors to use in treatment. She will discuss Rainville’s Laser Field Repatterning (LFR) method, as well as herbal, food, and drainage strategies for organ support.  In addition, she will look at the meridian clock as a means of assessing organ systems distress. The goal of this presentation is to help empower individuals to cope with health situations that may occur away from a doctor’s care, to get relief until a medical intervention is possible, and to implement helpful strategies for general monitoring of a range of conditions.

Andreanna Rainville, RN, is a nationally recognized lecturer and instructor on issues of chronic illness and related alternative medical therapies. She has spent the past decade working closely with Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD, both in his clinical practice with patients, and as an accredited teacher of his health care model through the American Academy of Neural Therapy. Andreanna brings over 15 years of experience to a wide range of health care techniques, including Autonomic Response Testing, SkaSys, Neural therapy, TFT, Color therapy, herbology, and much more. She is the developer of Laser Field Repatterning (LFR), a green laser method of cell and tissue rebalancing. She continues to be a leading advocate for self-empowerment in patient care, as a creator of easy compliance tools for doctors and for patients to engage in more personal and autonomous healing.  For more information, visit www.NurseAndi.com
