Red blood cell fatty acids provide an important view into the metabolism of fatty acids which is a critical factor in regulating and building hormones and neurotransmitters. This test is preferable over plasma fatty acids as that test is valuable primarily as a means of determining dietary adequacy while RBC testing provides information about metabolic transformations within the cell.
Primary Conditions for Utilizing this Test: Eczema, arthritis, eating disorders, depression, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.
Secondary Conditions for Utilizing this Test: Inflammatory disorders, obesity, hair loss, infertility, behavioral issues, fatigue, abnormal liver function, hormone dysfunction, memory loss, and hypoglycemia.
